Measurement of surface tension
Would you like to determine the surface tension of your material? With the Krüss contact angle device we write a drop shape analysis, where the angles of the drop of your material will be determined. The surface tension of the material is low when the contact angle is high. In this case your material is hydrophobic. Otherwise your material has hydrophilic characteristics with a low contact angle and high surface tension.
Viscosity measurements are made in conjunction with product quality and efficiency. To determine the viscosity of your glue, the laboratory of Maan Research and Development is equipped with a Brookfield viscometer. Anyone involved with flow characterization, in research or development or quality control at one time or another gets involved with some type of viscosity measurement.
Rheological behavior help us to understand the adhesives we are working with so that we can either know how they are behaving or force them to behave according to our needs.
With viscosity measurement a temperature profile may be formulated. Based on which the effect of temperature of your glue can be analyzed.
We use microscopy to analyze surfaces, cutting edges, glues or adhesive compounds. Besides research with optical microscopes, we can also analyze by means of con focal laser microscopy.
- Confocale laser microscopy
With confocal laser microscopy we make a 3-D depiction of the material surfaces with a Keyence microscope. This laser scanning microscope can be applied in applications where it is necessary to analyze material structures. Through this form of microscopy we can tell you very accurate if your material contains dust particles, scratches or other contours.
Furthermore it is possible, based on the 3-D information, to determine the roughness of the surface.
Would you like to determine the purity or structure of your glue or other materials? With the ATR-FTIR (Attenuated Total Reflectance Fourier transform infared spectroscopy) we can make a finger print of your glue or material. By means of this material draft the compound can be qualified and we provide you with reliable advice. With the best materials you can realize a reliable compound as result.

3-D optical-and mechanical measurement table
Would you like to know if your material or seal is round, to the micrometer? With the 3-D optical measurement table researches of Maan can measure your materials, products and control the measurements exactly.
Adhesive bonding tests
To test material properties of your existing or future adhesive bonding, Maan R&D uses various tests such as: tensile, peel test, bending or compression test.
- Tensile measurement
What power do you need for pulling apart your material or adhesive bonding? The laboratory of Maan R&D is equipped with a computer controlled Testometric tensile machine, wherewith the strengths of the compound and material compound will be measured. In addition, with the calculation of the yield strength it is determined by what power your material changes permanent. The tensile machine of Maan R&D can accomplishes tensile measurement until 20 kN.
- Peel test
Besides calculating tensile strength, Maan R&D also tests the adhesion strength of your glues, tapes, films, and seals with a 90 degree or 180 degree peel test. With the peel test, researchers are able to determine the release power of your glue or tapes.

Advanced FLIR thermal camera
After heating your glue our researchers are able to analyze it with a thermal camera. Maan R&D has an advanced thermal camera of the brand FLIR, the temperature differences can be made comprehensible till 1000 degrees.
A thermal camera measures infra-red light and heat and is able to convert this into video and photos. Besides determining the temperature and the temperature distribution of glue, the thermal camera also controls irregularities in your glue.
